College Loans, including Stafford, PLUS, EducationGain or Perkins Loans

Choose a smart way to pay for education.

Many families today need help paying for college. If you or your child plan to attend an accredited college or university at least part-time, then the Union Plus Education Loans through American Education Services (AES) are your best bet.

Borrowing through the Union Plus Education Loan program gives you access to many financial products. They can provide low-cost federal loans and private loans with rate reductions for automatic and on-time payments. You can borrow all of the money you need-for tuition, books, fees, computers and other education-related expenses.

Unique benefits exclusively for union members:

  • Strike benefit: If you have a Union Plus Education Loan and have been on strike for 30 days or longer, payments can be made for you up to 60 days if your account is eligible and in good standing. For more information, call 1-877-881-1022.

  • UPromise Advantage: By shopping at participating stores, you can earn contributions for future college expenses or payments to your current student loans. Learn more about this special program here.

Loans designed for your needs:

EducationGain private loan The EducationGain private loan is a flexible supplement to your student aid package to help cover expenses not met by your existing financial aid. There's no application deadline and you can use the funds for any education-related expense, including tutors, computers and transportation. With EducationGain, no school certification is required and you - not your school - receive the money directly.

Most students will not qualify for the EducationGain loan without a creditworthy cosigner (e.g. parent or spouse). Visit the EducationGain Website to review terms & conditions. The criteria for qualifying for this loan includes:

  • 2 years of credit history,
  • 2 years full-time employment history with the same employer or in the same industry and
  • 2 years at the same residency.

Or call 1-866-213-3155.
Perkins loan The Perkins loan is a low-interest federal student loan program that is based on the student’s financial need.

Stafford Loan The Stafford Loan program is by far the most popular form of financial aid offered in the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP). It is available to both undergraduate and graduate students.
Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS) loan The Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS) loan program is part of the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP) and allows you to borrow up to the difference between your child’s educational costs and your child’s financial aid award package.
